He started his competitive skating career in 1955 which lasted for no less than 21 years. Ever since his retirement from active skating he has remained deeply involved in speed skating, currently as Vice-President of the Hungarian National Skating Federation and Council Member of the International Skating Union. His achievements include Hungarian (Senior) Championships (15 times) and Junior Championship (once). He competed at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble, France, where he skated a new national record in 1500 meters.
